Ion Iliescu said he had prepared a message for the 2024 elections, which he wanted to make public on December 6, but gave up after the Constitutional Court's decision. In an interview, he stressed the importance of the vote for democracy and Romania's membership of the EU and NATO. He also spoke about elegance in Romanian politics and the need for dialog between former and current presidents. Iliescu is currently in hospital and his health is being monitored.
