Nicuşor Dan congratulated Lula da Silva on his re-election as President of Brazil

President of Romania, Nicuşor Dan, congratulated Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Monday on his re-election as President of Brazil, in a message posted on the X platform. The Romanian head of state said that Bucharest looks forward to continuing cooperation with Brazil on global challenges and strengthening the partnership between the European Union and Latin America.

Nicuşor Dan highlighted the historical and cultural ties between the two states, stating that Romania and Brazil, “separated by an ocean, but united by a common Latin heritage and a long-standing friendship,” still have many projects to carry out together.

According to AFP, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Brazil’s left-wing president, won Sunday’s presidential election and is expected to secure a fourth term, a result described as unexpected. His conservative opponent, Flávio Bolsonaro, announced that he intends to challenge the election result.
