Hubert Thuma, the president of the Ilfov County Council and leader of PNL Ilfov, announced on Tuesday that he has been expelled from the party.
The leader of PNL Ilfov stated that he was expelled from a party in which he has won every mandate "for 25 years, by vote," not by appointment.
Thuma declared that he will not resign from the mandate for which the citizens voted for him and will use all legal means to contest this decision, which he considers an abuse: "Now, the man who has lived off the sinecures that he criticizes today is asking me to resign from the mandate for which the citizens voted for me. I will not do it."
He criticized the leadership of PNL, especially Ilie Bolojan, for the "political purges," comparing them to the communist regime. Thuma also added that he was expelled from PNL because he was considered too close to PSD, while Bolojan supported a minority PSD government.
The National Permanent Bureau of PNL met on Tuesday to discuss the expulsions of members who supported the government proposed by Adrian Veștea.
