Former Prime Minister and PNL leader, Florin Cîțu harshly criticizes the government led by Ilie Bolojan for the decision to increase VAT from 19% to 21%. Moreover, he states that this measure was a strategic mistake, resulting in a loss of 8 billion lei compared to initial estimates. He emphasizes that higher taxation did not generate additional revenue for the budget, but led to a decrease in consumption and an inflation rate that has reached 10%.

Cîțu believes that returning to a VAT of 19% is an obligation, not an option, and that the state must abandon the vision of treating the private sector as an endless source of revenue. He promises to analyze other measures that have affected the economy in the last four years. By the time of the article's publication, the Ministry of Finance had not provided a response to these accusations.
