Elena Lasconi claims she would have won the presidency and that the 2024 elections were annulled because of her

Elena Lasconi said she would have become president of Romania if the 2024 presidential election had not been annulled after the first round. The former candidate made the remarks on the „În fața ta” program, broadcast by Digi24, claiming that the election was annulled because of her, not because of Călin Georgescu.

Lasconi said she believed she could win the election because voters would have been able to get to know her „as she is,” describing herself as an authentic person with no hidden ties. She said that 1.77 million people voted for her in the first round and that this result was proof of the trust she had received from the electorate.

The former candidate said she now regrets entering the presidential race, mainly because she did not have a sufficiently well-organized team. She criticized the pressure and attacks in politics, but maintained that she would not have embarrassed Romania as president.

„They were annulled because of me. They had absolutely nothing on me, and Călin Georgescu would no longer have been discussed,” Lasconi said. The full program was scheduled to air on Saturday, September 26, at 2:00 p.m.
