US President-elect Donald Trump has urged Chinese President Xi Jinping to introduce the death penalty.

Trump said he could have persuaded China to impose the death penalty on drug traffickers in the context of the US fentanyl crisis. Trump also believes that China's involvement could help end the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, noting that he had already discussed the issue with Xi Jinping.
