Former president Traian Băsescu commented on the differences between the current Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and the recent election winner, Peter Magyar. He emphasizes that, although Magyar seeks autonomy in relation to the EU, he will need to adjust his position to access the blocked European funds, estimated at 17 billion euros. He noted that Magyar retains many of Orban's policies, including a separatist rhetoric, but with the necessary openness towards the European Union. Băsescu added that Magyar does not support sending weapons to Ukraine and does not advocate for Ukraine's rapid integration into the EU. The former president also mentioned the problematic relationship between Orban and UDMR, suggesting that unclear aspects could come to light. Regarding Hungary's relations with China, Băsescu stated that they do not disturb anyone, highlighting the importance of the trade partnership with this country.
