The Romanian Parliament has validated the appointment of Adrian Zăbăuianu as the new head of the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP), at the proposal of the PSD.

With 271 votes "for" and only 2 against, the appointment took place in a context where the opposition attempted a boycott. AEP was previously led by an interim president, Toni Greblă, who was dismissed at the beginning of the year.

Adrian Țuțuianu, a veteran of Romanian politics with a career of over 25 years, had to leave PSD to take this position. He previously held important positions, such as senator, president of the Dâmbovița County Council, and Minister of Defense in the Mihai Tudose government. Additionally, in 2012, he was investigated by DNA for influence peddling in connection with the electoral campaign.
