Banca Transilvania strengthens its offer for Romanians in Italy by expanding the services available in BT Pay Italy, an application launched in the spring of 2025. Designed for both Romanians and Italians, the platform allows for the opening of a 100% online account and is part of the campaign "Your bank at home, wherever you are."

Italy occupies a distinct place in the bank's strategy for the diaspora, given that Banca Transilvania has been present in this market for 12 years, through its branch in Rome.

One of the main advantages for Romanians residing in Italy is the possibility of opening an account with an Italian IBAN using their Romanian identity card.

To open the account, they must also present their tax code, as well as a work contract or, in the case of students, a certificate of attendance. Italian citizens can open the account using their Italian identity card.

The account activation process is carried out entirely through the application, by selecting Italy as the country of residence and confirming their identity. After opening the account, clients instantly receive the digital card in the application, and the physical card is delivered for free anywhere in Italy. It can be activated at any ATM, after which it can be used for withdrawals and payments.

After making at least one payment with their phone in physical stores using the BT Pay/Apple Pay/Garmin Pay/Fitbit Pay applications or making an online payment using a BT card, users of BT Pay Italy receive 5% cashback on eligible transaction amounts, up to a limit of 100 euros.

Moreover, clients benefit from five free withdrawals per month from any ATM in Italy or abroad and can make commission-free transfers both based on the phone number to other BT Pay users and via IBAN. BT Pay Italy also includes savings products. Users can open a savings account without a minimum amount, with permanent access to funds and an interest rate of 2.2% per year, as well as term deposits with interest rates ranging from 1.25% to 2.30% per year, depending on the chosen period.

In addition to basic banking services, users of BT Pay Italy also have access to offers available in the section dedicated to partners in the application, as well as complete account management directly from their phone.
