Lino Lim, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace Romania, announced at the presentation conference of the National Security Barometer 2026 that the South Korean company is eligible for accessing SAFE funds, having submitted the necessary documents to the Government of Romania. Hanwha Aerospace aims to develop a defense industrial ecosystem, with a plan that includes 80% localization of the infantry combat vehicle equipping program and the development of production capabilities for guided munitions in Romania.
Lin mentioned that, in the event of winning the program, over 80% of the funds will remain in the country, and the company intends to collaborate with Romanian firms for the development of satellites and advanced systems. The Hanwha factory is under construction and will be completed by the end of the year, with production planned to start in March 2027.
