The victim, contacted by telephone by people claiming to be from a bank, was manipulated into transferring almost 50,000 lei into another account. The police intervened and the prosecutor ordered precautionary measures on the account, realizing that the account holder was also a victim. The 45,705 lei will be returned to the woman. Spoofing' uses VoIP technology to mask the real phone number, making the calls appear legitimate, which makes it necessary to verify the authenticity of suspicious calls.
