In a message published on Facebook, Vasile Bănescu, former spokesman for the Romanian Patriarchate, criticizes Romanian sovereignism as a "Trojan horse" aimed at destabilizing Romania and Eastern Europe. He compares the movement to a pathetic clone of the Phoenix bird, which, while claiming to be powerful, only spreads confusion. Bănescu emphasizes that sovereignism is an emanation of Russia and that its supporters, disguised under various identities, continue to play the role of "patriots" in the face of a reality they cannot face.
