In a debate in the European Parliament, Ursula von der Leyen underlined that China's support for Russia contributes to instability in Europe and called on Beijing to work with the EU. She stressed the interdependence of Euro-Atlantic and Indo-Pacific security and called for respect for international trade rules. Von der Leyen cited the economic challenges caused by Chinese subsidies and called for a rebalancing of trade relations, especially in rare earth exports. The EU will remain vigilant to external influences and seek cooperation on climate issues.
