The government approved a memorandum for reforming the energy market, aiming for fair prices and transforming Romania from an energy importer into an exporter by 2032.

The memorandum includes measures to reduce electricity prices and develop a functional market. Among these are the operationalization of the Market Maker mechanism, the extension of transaction guarantees, smart metering, and dynamic pricing. The Minister of Energy, Bogdan Ivan, emphasized that Romania has some of the highest prices in the EU and that work is being done to increase production capacities. The goal is for Romania to become an energy exporter by 2032, thus reducing costs for consumers.
