The National Students' Council has challenged the Education Minister's proposal to reorganize scholarships, arguing that it will reduce both the number and the value of scholarships, particularly affecting students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The budget allocated to bursaries has increased significantly in recent years, demonstrating their effectiveness in combating school drop-out. The proposed reorganization foresees keeping only social and merit scholarships and cutting other types of scholarships, which has led to dissatisfaction and protests from students.
