Romania's Mihail Kogălniceanu airbase was instrumental in supporting Operation Midnight Hammer, which targeted Iranian nuclear facilities. Since mid-June, activity at the base has increased significantly, with frequent flights by US planes and transfers of equipment from the US. The base, initially a temporary facility, is becoming one of the largest NATO military bases in Europe, underlining Romania's strategic importance in the context of tensions in the Middle East.
