Kelemen Hunor, the leader of UDMR, reacted firmly to the attacks on foreign workers, emphasizing that violence must not be tolerated. He called on political parties to distance themselves from AUR and from extremist politicians who incite hatred. Two recent violent incidents occurred in Cluj and Bucharest, where foreign workers were assaulted for xenophobic reasons. Hunor highlighted the responsibility of politicians in fueling an atmosphere of hatred and called for solutions against populism. The mayor of Bucharest also condemned extremist rhetoric that can lead to violence.
