Former Health Minister Patriciu Achimaș-Cadariu warns that rapid cuts in health care will lead to a deterioration of the current situation and stresses the need for a new health law.

Patriciu Achimaș-Cadariu, former Minister of Health, said that rapid reforms and budget cuts in the health sector will not improve the situation, but worsen it. He stresses that real reorganization requires a new health law, a process that takes several years. Achimaș-Cadariu proposes rethinking underperforming departments and improving services through investment, pointing out that Romania has the smallest health budget in the EU. He suggests that competition between state and private insurers could improve the quality of care.
