Diana Buzoianu, Minister of Environment, announced that the National Environmental Guard has fined 1.8 million lei for irregularities at landfills, following an inter county control. The biggest fines were in Dâmbovița, Ilfov and Teleorman, for failure to comply with storage and air quality monitoring rules. There were also problems with infrastructure and waste recycling. The environment ministry is working on rules for the odor law and proposing changes for the management of second-hand products. Buzoianu emphasized the need to strengthen the capacity of the Environmental Guard.
