The Minister of Energy, Sebastian Burduja, announced that the Cluj Court has not ordered the demolition of the Surduc-Siriu hydropower plant, rejecting the request of the Declic association. The court clarified that, although an exception of illegality regarding the construction permit was admitted, there are no grounds for demolishing the dam. The project, started in 1981 and 67% completed, is considered vital for Romania's energy security and will prevent flooding in Covasna and Buzău counties.
