A Eurostat study shows that 27% of the EU population cannot afford a week's vacation, with Romania having the highest percentage at 58.6%.

In 2024, 27% of the EU population aged 16 and over could not afford a week's vacation. Romania tops this ranking with 58.6% of the population unable to go on vacation, followed by Greece with 46%. The situation is also bad in Bulgaria, where 41.4% cannot afford a vacation. Even in rich countries like Luxembourg and Sweden, there are households unable to travel.
