The UN is preparing to vote on a resolution to stop the fighting in the Gaza Strip, after the US blocked a similar resolution in December.

Diplomats say the wording of the draft resolution could be watered down from "durable cessation" of hostilities to "suspension" to please the US and avoid another veto. The announcement comes amid mounting international pressure on Israel to change tactics in its war against Hamas.
