WhatsApp will cease to function on iPhones with iOS older than 15.5 starting November 30, 2026

WhatsApp announces that, starting from November 30, 2026, the application will no longer be compatible with iPhones running iOS versions older than 15.5. This measure affects both regular users and those using WhatsApp Business, as both applications rely on the same technical infrastructure.

iPhone users are encouraged to check their phone's compatibility, and those with models capable of installing iOS 15.5 do not need to change their device, but only to perform an update. The main reason for this decision is related to the development and security of the application, as maintaining support for older versions complicates the testing and implementation of new features.

Android users will also be affected, as from September 8, 2026, WhatsApp will no longer work on phones with Android 5.0 or 5.1.

The application has already started issuing warnings to the targeted users.
