In 2026, WhatsApp will bring significant changes, including privacy features that allow the use of the application without revealing phone numbers. It will also integrate Meta's artificial intelligence and improve calling features and status and channel tools. However, the application will reduce compatibility, excluding many older phones starting January 1, 2026, which will force users to update their devices to continue using the service.

Additionally, from January 15, ChatGPT will no longer be available on WhatsApp, after Meta banned third-party artificial intelligence solutions. These measures are part of Meta's strategy to enhance the security and privacy of the application, complying with strict European regulations. Among the planned updates are new emojis, options to block multimedia content from unknown sources, and a redesign of the chat interface for a more organized experience. These improvements require modern versions of Android and iOS, which explains the end of support for older models.
