WhatsApp has announced the launch of special accounts for pre-teens, which will be managed directly by parents, to ensure safer communication. These accounts, developed with the help of online safety experts, allow parents to control who can contact their children and in which groups they can be added.
Setting up requires both the parent's and the child's phone, and the privacy settings can only be modified by parents using a PIN. Conversations are protected by end-to-end encryption. Additionally, parents can more easily manage the groups their children participate in, thus facilitating the monitoring of online activities.
