The 'Aeolus' project represents a significant step in expanding public-private partnerships in space exploration, being a collaboration between NASA and Relativity Space, a company acquired by Eric Schmidt.

The mission, scheduled for launch in 2028, will carry four scientific instruments designed to observe the atmosphere of Mars, providing data on dust, winds, and temperature variations. NASA hopes that this information will enable daily mapping of the planet, essential for future robotic missions and human exploration.

The collaboration model adopted by NASA, similar to those with SpaceX, allows the agency to define scientific objectives while private companies develop the necessary infrastructure. However, Relativity Space faces challenges, having an accelerated pace of development for the 'Terran R' spacecraft and rocket, in the context of intense competition with SpaceX.
