Romania has become a member of the European Elixir Consortium, a strategic initiative created in 2013 in Copenhagen, dedicated to the integration and management of biological data resources at the European level. The accession law and the promulgation decree have been published in the Official Gazette. According to the National Authority for Research, this accession will allow the scientific community in Romania to access federated data platforms and advanced bioinformatics services, thus contributing to the improvement of research and innovation capacity in the life sciences. The European agreement, which includes a central hub and distributed nodes, will manage an interconnected collection of data resources and biological tools, with the hub located at the Wellcome Genome Campus in Cambridge. This collaboration will support scientific research and facilitate the exchange of information at the continental level.
