Recent WHO findings confirm that the origin of COVID-19 remains unclear, with hypotheses including both animal transmission and laboratory leakage. The WHO has criticized the lack of information from China essential to understanding the pandemic. Although some US agencies favor the laboratory leak theory, most experts support zoonotic transmission. The WHO has requested additional data from China but has received no response, hampering research.
