OpenAI has announced that it will test ads in ChatGPT for users who use the free version, starting with the United States. The ads, which will be clearly labeled, will appear at the bottom of the conversation, without influencing the responses provided to users. OpenAI emphasizes that conversations will remain private and will not sell user data to advertising agencies. Users who subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, Pro, or Enterprise plans will not see ads, while the ChatGPT Go plan, which costs 8 dollars per month, will include ads.
OpenAI offers options to disable ad personalization and allows users to delete data used for advertising. Ads will not be displayed to users under 18 years old and will not appear near sensitive topics. The company mentioned that this ad integration is intended to allow more users to access its tools with fewer restrictions.
