In a reaction to an article in The Wall Street Journal suggesting that OpenAI has a tool capable of accurately identifying essays written by ChatGPTs, the company provided information about its research into text markup and explained why it has not released the detection method. According to the report, internal debates have prevented the launch of the tool, even though it is, "ready". OpenAI said: 'Our teams have developed a text tagging method that we continue to consider as we look for alternatives'.
