The agreement between OpenAI and AMD provides for the purchase of Instinct MI450 graphics chips, which will offer 6 teraflops of computing power for OpenAI's AI infrastructure. The first batch will be implemented in 2026, and OpenAI has the option to purchase up to 160 million AMD shares, representing 10% of the company. Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, stated that the partnership will accelerate the development of advanced AI. This comes after another major partnership with Nvidia, worth 100 billion dollars.
