Jared Isaacman, the NASA administrator, defended the decision to select only men for the Artemis 3 mission crew, explaining that the selection was based on criteria that ensure the highest chances of success for the mission.

In a post on platform X, he mentioned the varied reactions, from disappointment to outrage, and emphasized the importance of respecting the selection process. Isaacman highlighted the significant number of female astronauts in the American agency, mentioning Christina Koch, the first woman to orbit the Moon, who is part of the Artemis 2 crew.

The Artemis 3 mission, initially scheduled for 2028, will launch tests next year for the lunar landing modules developed by SpaceX and Blue Origin. The Artemis program aims to bring humans back to the Moon and establish an American base, in the context of global competition for advancements in space.
