Microsoft is in negotiations with Anthropic to provide its Maia chips, a move that could strengthen the company's position in the competition for AI infrastructure. Although a final contract has not been signed, the discussions come after Microsoft presented the second generation of the Maia chip, which will be used for the GPT-5.2 model developed by OpenAI. This agreement would represent a significant success for Microsoft, which is looking to regain ground against rivals Amazon and Google. In November, Microsoft invested 5 billion dollars in Anthropic, which is facing processing capacity challenges due to the popularity of the AI assistant Claude.

Recently, Anthropic announced an agreement with SpaceX to pay 1.25 billion dollars per month for processing capacity. Until now, Anthropic has primarily used Nvidia chips, but it has also signed a 10-year agreement with Amazon for Trainium chips. Satya Nadella, CEO of Microsoft, emphasized the superior efficiency of the Maia 200 chip compared to other existing solutions.
