Microsoft and OpenAI have decided to relinquish the software giant's exclusive right to commercialize the AI models of the startup, thus facilitating OpenAI's collaboration with other cloud providers, including Amazon. This change, which comes after a complex relationship, aims to support the development of the artificial intelligence industry and to respond to OpenAI's growing processing needs.

The new agreement will allow OpenAI's models to be available on Amazon Web Services and other cloud platforms, while Microsoft remains the primary cloud provider for OpenAI. Additionally, the revenues that OpenAI pays to Microsoft will have a cap, providing more financial predictability. Microsoft will continue to receive a share of revenues until 2030, even if OpenAI achieves its goal of developing general artificial intelligence. This restructuring has increased Microsoft's stake in OpenAI to 27%.
