The Google Threat Intelligence Group has identified a cyber attack in which artificial intelligence was used to discover a hard-to-detect vulnerability through traditional security methods.

According to a recent report by the Google Threat Intelligence Group, for the first time, AI has been used to discover and exploit a zero-day vulnerability, an unknown flaw to software developers. This vulnerability, affecting a popular web management system, allowed attackers to bypass two-factor authentication.


Google detected the attack before it was widely launched and warned the affected company. Experts emphasize that the issue was not a classic error, but a logical contradiction in the code, which AI was able to identify, unlike traditional scanners. The report mentions that groups from China, North Korea, and Russia are already using AI to search for vulnerabilities and develop sophisticated malware.


Google warns that AI is transforming phishing attacks, making them more credible and harder to detect. The conclusion of the report is that AI is no longer just a tool, but an active participant in cyberattacks, thus changing the nature of global cybersecurity.
