The German manufacturer BMW has announced the recall of hundreds of thousands of cars worldwide due to a defective solenoid that can cause fires. In Germany, the recall affects 28,582 vehicles, but estimates suggest that approximately 575,000 cars could be affected globally.

The models included in the recall are the 2 Series Coupe, various versions of the 3, 4, and 5 Series, the 6 Series Gran Turismo, the 7 Series, as well as the SUVs X4, X5, X6, and Z4. BMW has identified a defect that affects the flow of electricity, which can lead to excessive wear of the switch and, in the worst case, to a short circuit that could cause fires.

The manufacturer recommends that drivers do not leave engines running unattended. This is not the first recall by BMW due to fire risks, as a similar situation occurred in September last year.
