The American company Anthropic, founded in 2021 by former OpenAI executives, has become the most valuable startup in the field of artificial intelligence, with a valuation of $965 billion, after raising $65 billion in a private funding round led by investment funds such as Sequoia Capital and Altimeter Capital. This valuation places it ahead of OpenAI, which estimated a valuation of $852 billion.
Anthropic reported annualized revenues of approximately $47 billion from its Claude-based services, its artificial intelligence model. The company recently launched Claude Opus 4.8, an improved version of its model, which offers superior performance in programming and complex tasks.
Additionally, Anthropic is facing legal challenges related to the use of AI in military applications and is discussing cybersecurity with U.S. authorities. The rapid growth of Anthropic underscores the accelerated pace of investments in AI, and the company is approaching the symbolic threshold of $1 trillion, fueling debates about the sustainability of these investments.
