Volodymyr Zelensky, the President of Ukraine, stated that he is willing to organize a referendum to allow the Ukrainian people to decide on the cession of Donbas, a territory requested by the Kremlin for a peace agreement.
The USA proposes the creation of a "special economic zone" in Donbas, without the presence of Russian troops, and Zelensky mentioned that his team is working on a 20-point peace agreement project initiated by Washington. Recent discussions between European leaders and Donald Trump have focused on the territorial concessions that Ukraine may have to make. The American plan also includes the withdrawal of Russian troops from the occupied regions and adjusting the size of the Ukrainian Armed Forces to 800,000 soldiers. Despite the negotiations, many Ukrainians believe that the plan favors Russia, and Zelensky is facing intense pressure from the international community.
