The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated in Florida that Ukraine has a "different position" regarding Russia concerning the Donbas region, emphasizing the importance of respecting the law and the Ukrainian people. After the meeting with American President Donald Trump, Zelensky acknowledged that the territorial issue is complex and reiterated that its resolution must be left to the Ukrainian people.

He proposed organizing a referendum to decide on any aspect of the peace plan, not just for territory, emphasizing that Ukrainians must be the ones to vote, as this land belongs to their nation. Zelensky stressed that important decisions must reflect the will of Ukrainian society.
