The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, announced that he has requested additional information from the United States about the conditions of a ceasefire proposed by Russian President Vladimir Putin, in the context of a phone conversation with Donald Trump. Zelensky expressed concerns on platform X, questioning whether the Russian proposal refers to a simple temporary security for the parade in Moscow or to a long-term ceasefire. The Kremlin announced that Putin is ready to decree a ceasefire during the celebration of Victory Day, and Trump would have supported this initiative.

Additionally, Russia stated that it will not deploy military equipment at the May 9 parade due to perceived terrorist threats from Ukraine. In the past, Ukraine has attempted to disrupt this ceremony through drone attacks. While Russia categorizes Ukrainian attacks as terrorist acts, Ukraine continues to call for an extended ceasefire to facilitate peace negotiations.
