The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced progress in negotiations with the U.S. for security guarantees, after two days of discussions in Berlin. American emissaries signaled their willingness to offer Ukraine guarantees that correspond to the security level of Article 5 of the NATO Treaty, essential for collective security. Zelensky mentioned that the details presented by the American side are promising, although they are just an initial outline. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz emphasized the importance of these discussions, considering them a real opportunity for a peace process with Russia. American negotiators stated that the guarantees offered are strong but acceptable to Russia; however, they warned that these offers will not be available indefinitely. The U.S. delegation had extensive meetings with European leaders, and the discussions were described as very positive.
