At the Euronews summit dedicated to the expansion of the European Union, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, harshly criticized the veto of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, accusing him of obstructing Ukraine's accession to the EU and providing "concrete support" to Vladimir Putin. Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine has met all the necessary criteria to open accession negotiations, and Hungary's blockage has sparked outrage among other member states.

Orbán justified the veto through a national consultation, and Zelensky urged the Hungarian Prime Minister to remove this obstacle. He also insisted that accession must be complete and on an equal footing, without "semi-members" of the EU. In the end, Zelensky emphasized that Ukraine is at war for its survival and called for Hungary's support instead of blockages.
