Chinese leader Xi Jinping called Taiwan 'the most important issue' in relations with the United States during a phone conversation with American President Donald Trump. Xi emphasized the need for the U.S. to be 'cautious' in supplying arms to Taiwan and expressed hope that both sides would find ways to resolve their differences. Trump described the call as 'excellent' and mentioned that he is looking forward to his visit to China in April. During the discussion, topics such as the war in Ukraine, the situation in Iran, and resource acquisitions from the U.S. were also addressed. Xi reaffirmed that Taiwan is 'Chinese territory' and warned about the risks associated with arms sales to the island. An online meeting also took place between Xi and Putin, where they discussed strengthening relations between China and Russia.
