The President of China, Xi Jinping, discussed on Wednesday, via telephone, with the President of the USA, Donald Trump, ahead of Trump's anticipated visit to China, scheduled for April, according to state television CCTV.
The White House did not provide immediate comments, and the Chinese press did not detail the content of the discussion. This was the second phone call between the two leaders, the first taking place at the end of November, when Trump praised relations with China.
The conversation took place after a video meeting between Xi and the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, who accepted Xi's invitation to visit China in the first half of the year. Relations between Washington and Beijing have been tense due to tariffs imposed by Trump, but have stabilized after a meeting in South Korea in October, where a fragile trade truce was agreed upon.
