An investigation by Mediapart, Snoop.ro and other international outlets has revealed that Worldline facilitated billions of euros worth of transactions for prostitution sites and illegal casinos for 10 years. The company, which handles online payments worth €500 billion a year, suffered a drastic 40% loss on the Paris stock exchange. Although Worldline has not disputed the reports, it said it has begun a review of high-risk customers and maintains a zero-tolerance policy against regulatory non-compliance. The investigation will also explore links with Romania, including the prostitution rings involved.
