A 57-year-old woman from Italy was sentenced to 3 years in prison and fined 15,000 euros for false declarations, unauthorized practice of medicine, and fraud. Although she only held a middle school diploma, she presented herself as a specialist in internal medicine and worked in the emergency room in Bordighera, Liguria. In 2023, the woman registered on the Indeed web platform, lying about her qualifications and obtaining a job through an agreement with the Cura Medica agency. She cared for approximately 160 patients and collected 10,300 euros. She is also already in prison for another conviction, having a history of fraud, including the embezzlement of pensions from elderly people she was caring for.
