Western allies of the United States, including France and the United Kingdom, have initiated discussions regarding the security of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz, a vital maritime route for oil transport. Following Iran's attacks on ships, maritime traffic has drastically decreased, and concerns persist regarding future threats from Iran.

The French Ministry of Defense announced that discussions took place with representatives from various countries to assess the crisis and plan a defensive mission aimed at restoring maritime traffic. Admiral Nicolas Vaujour emphasized the importance of freedom of navigation for the global economy. France has already deployed warships to the region, and the United Kingdom is working on a plan to reopen the strait, focusing on demining and protecting oil tankers.
