Zelensky criticizes Europe after a discussion with Trump in Davos. Ukraine celebrates "Book Day"

The Ukrainian president, Volodymyr Zelensky, criticized on Thursday, in Davos, after a meeting with U.S. leader Donald Trump, the lack of action from Europe. He emphasized that "the whole world is waiting for America to calm down" regarding Greenland, while Ukrainians have been living "the Day of the Cart" for years under Russian aggression.

"Everyone remembers the great American movie The Day of the Cart." "But no one would want to live like that, repeating the same thing for weeks, months, and, of course, years, and yet that is exactly how we are living now."

He says that a year ago he stated that "Europe needs to know how to defend itself," but "a year has passed and nothing has changed."

He states that each year brings new challenges to Europe, diverting attention from other issues.

"Everyone has turned their attention to Greenland and it is clear that most leaders simply are not sure what to do about it. And it seems that everyone is just waiting for America to calm down on this subject, hoping that it will disappear. But what if that doesn't happen? What happens then?"

Zelensky continued by thanking Europe for freezing Russian assets, but says that "when the time came" for the assets to be used to help defend Ukraine, the decision was "blocked."

Criticism of Europe and the U.S.

The Ukrainian president noted on the other hand that there has been no "real progress" regarding the establishment of a tribunal for the Russian aggression against Ukraine, despite "numerous meetings." He rhetorically asks whether it is a matter of "time or political will."

Zelensky criticized the failure of Europe and the U.S. to stop the sale of missile components to Russia.

"Europe says nothing, America says almost nothing, and Putin is producing missiles," he says.
