Anti-government protests in Kenya led to the deaths of 16 people, mostly killed by police, as thousands of demonstrators gathered to commemorate last year's events.

On Wednesday, Kenya was the scene of violent anti-government protests that left 16 people dead, according to Amnesty Kenya. The demonstrations marked one year since the 2024 protests, which left more than 60 people dead. Police intervened with tear gas and water cannons in Nairobi, and violent clashes spread to other cities. Human rights organizations have reported 8 dead and more than 400 injured, but the authorities have not confirmed the figures.
