The incident took place near a building that houses asylum seekers, and over 1,000 people participated in the protest. The protesters, who carried Irish flags and signs with anti-immigrant messages, threw bottles and fireworks in the direction of the police. The Minister of Justice, Jim O’Callaghan, condemned the violence and emphasized that crimes are used as weapons to sow discord in society.

Following the incident, six people were arrested, and a police officer required medical attention. Additionally, the opposition leader, Sinn Fein, mentioned that the arrested man had a prior deportation order.
